ETHOS :

  • word in Greek meaning character 
  • when using counterargument for an opposing side to explain an issue in why you are correct, you are using ethos
  • other times one may rely on reputation to be believed in 
  • appeals to mental capacity for logic 
PATHOS :
  • word in Greek meaning suffering 
  • attention is focused on beliefs of the audience 
  • used for the audiences capacity of empathy 
  • appeals to imagination and feelings to help audience grasp argument
LOGOS :
  • word in Greek meaning word 
  • focus is mainly on the message of something 
  • also known as "appeal to reason"
  • points out clarity in the argument 
  • uses data to support claim
KAIROS :
  • word in Greek meaning right time or opportunity 
  • used mainly for ads in a way of the "right time"
  • could also be used as different ways to send email and other messages to different people 
These terms can be used in an argument against parents to get what you want by telling them facts and providing evidence. Also, when your parents realize that you are right they won't be able to say no to you anymore.
